Ok this might be my most favorite post you’ve ever written!!! Fashion history! History of textiles! France! Poplin! Pants! Like Stefon from SNL says: it has everything! This was so good, and I agree with Emily, going to have to restrain myself from buying it all!
I had a feeling the fashion history would be up your alley!! 😇😊 Thank you!! I’ve had to also restrain myself from buying it all- found SO many poplin gems when researching…!
Plus one - favorite post, and how did you know all I want to add right now are things with the heft and structure of CP?? I have so many floaty things, I need a little poplin to say I mean bizness. TY!
You are POPLIN INCARNATE my friend. In fact I was sorta thinking of you when writing this…not only thanks to your love of Kyotos but bc you’re just as easygoing!! 💙
doing Gods work here!! I feel like i just took a two week course on poplin fabric and learned so much that i’ve always wanted to know. you are the best!!
Sogole, this is so good and so informative. I LOVE all things natural fabric (especially post meno when you really need airy fabrics) and literally break a sweat if I get near acrylic. I loved learning about the history of poplin and I love my poplin shirts from E. M. Reitz and my poplin shorts from By Malene Birger. I have already worn my Sessei pants three times and it's only mid June! Poplin rules the day!
Leslie!! I love to hear this and actually thought of you when pulling some of these recs together! Poplin is such a versatile fabric - it’s so much of my summer wardrobe thanks to how easy and cool it is!
SOGOLE, this is a freaking goldmine!!!! The way you describe fabrics is so fun, and I actually gasped when I saw that blue mini (and then said go figure when I clicked the link bc simon miller is one of my favorite brands.) I loved learning the history behind poplin, and thank you for making me lol: “she’s French. Like, OF COURSE SHE IS?!?” I loved this piece so much.
The way you weave history with insight, whit, and charm into all of your newsletters is perfection. Oh and that mini navy and blue striped skirt from Simon Miller is EVERYTHING!
Really doing the work of teaching AND delighting. I LOVE the way poplin feels on my skin and how it basically brings its own breeze: a big value proposition since I break a sweat just looking outside.
I know a good poplin dress hates to see me coming! I like the idea that poplin pants do not need to be put in a casual-wear box. I love wearing jeans and flowy pants to work — out of sheer comfort. I think adding poplin pants (already love skirts) to the arsenal is the next best step! Love the linked suggestions & styling tips embedded in this beauty as well!
Thanks Traci! Poplin pants are a MUST for me when temps rise. Can’t handle jeans when it’s hot out! You’ll have to share if you add them to your repertoire! Xxx

Poplin is such a wardrobe genie bc there’s a decent amount of structure but it’s still AIRY!!! Perfect for summer!!
Yea, this checked alllll the boxes for me! And slightly preppy to boot ;)
Stefon! My all time favorite SNL character....and poplin is a godsend for temp controlling and sun protection.
Totally agree!
Henceforth I’d like to be considered poplin; though I might be more cotton because I get wrinkled a little bit sometimes.
In all seriousness this was a perfect round up; I really like how you did a “wear with” section!! I now have 3 new things on my wishlist 😆

Haha thank you Jordyn! Maybe I should’ve added a pop quiz at the end of the post…? 😂

(a) wrap weave
(b) weft weave
(c) all of the above
Stellar! Immediately filtered my Indyx to Poplin and some things are going on the weekly rack tomorrow.
Can’t wait to see!!!
Rag & Bone poplin shirts are my FAV!
I’ll have to check out!!
They have some good sales too! Stripes never go out of style!
I know this post is about poplin, but your description of linen is spot on. Linen is a little messy, and that’s what we love about her.
Absolutely!! She’s always down for a good time lol

This makes me SO HAPPY!!! That skirt is truly chef’s kiss and I’m so glad you also love poplin as much as I do!! French papal cotton for everyone! 🇫🇷

Omg thank youuuuu Evonne!! That skirt is on my wish list too- it’s ADORBS!!!

It’s such an emotional fabric in that it brings out the BEST in everyone I find!! Crispy, soft and cool!!!
I love poplin so much! I just got a pair of poplin shorts recently and wore those 4 days straight last week 😬
Loving all your recs and styling tips! ♥️
Ooooh please do share in your next post- LOVE a good poplin short! It’s honestly my top 3 summer go-to!
Ok I love this … I’m going to start thinking of fabrics as personalities too! And of course poplin is French. Effortlessly chic 💛
She’s honestly the superior fabric in so many ways!! 💙
