This is such an interesting take! I do feel like weather also plays a part? I grew up in Mumbai where it’s always hot and humid and as much as my style leans slightly more maximalist than minimalist, I know the power of good basics because having that sort of formula helps you feel put together and refined even when it’s BOILING outside. Plus you do exactly what you said, you look at colours, amazing fit and even prints in your go to basics. But casual was always the go to for all of us! It was the vibe of the place too!
Exactly! Weather absolutely plays a big part but on the whole I think we’ve loosened up and realized casual doesn’t mean careless or sloppy- it means we are just relaxed and actually living I. Our clothing.

I’m encouraged by the idea that “casual” no longer has to mean sweatpants and T-shirts. Your distinction between styling and style especially resonated with me. I love how thoughtful proportions and excellent basics can make even the simplest outfit feel intentional.
